Kendal and Sprite!

Well, it is offical and we are over the moon to announce that sweet Spritely Sprite has joined her home with Kendal. Sprite will be training with Doug at Elite Dog Training in Carmel and will serve as Kendal’s medical detection dog. While in training she will join Kendal at Manchester College. This was all made possible by the Indiana Wish Foundation and we were delighted to meet Julie, who represented the Foundation.
It was an amazing day and we can’t express enough gratitude for our dear friend Suzanne who was Spritely’s foster Mom for the past 2 weeks and who was hostess for today’s festivities.
We can’t wait to hear the updates from Kendal and Doug! [9/24]

This morning I was starting the sticks game with Rory and Kitz. That’s where I throw a stick every 5 or 10 seconds and they race around and pick up or count coup on the sticks. It’s a good way to burn off some energy.
GSDs are a very energetic breed. Even in between delivering pups Kitz insists on playing the stick game – of course I don’t throw the sticks quite so far.
Anyway, I couldn’t see many sticks so I asked Rory “where are the sticks?” Her eyes glazed over for a couple of seconds like she was lost in throught and then she raced over to some bushes. She glanced around as if thinking “I was sure I left one over here yesterday”. She poked around a bit, found a good stick and raced back and dropped it at my feet as she shot by.
I threw it and the game was on! [6/24]

The “Born in the USA” litter had visitors! [6/24]

Final countdown to whelping the G litter and Lennie wants to be where the action is. [6/24] And speaking of Lennie, he’s watching the mouse pointer move on the screen right now. Hope he doesn’t attack the monitor.

Genesee meets “Knobby” the sheep at the farmer’s market. Of course Knobby plays by playful butting, which was new for Gen. [6/24]

Judi’s Onyx A & friends indulge in a little trampoline time. [4/24]

Today I was working from home and in a meeting. Rory had finished eating and was ready to get out of her kennel so she barked but I shushed her and gave her the “wait” sign.
The meeting dragged on and on for 15 or 20 minutes, long enough so that I was no longer focused on her. She knew this, and the moment the meeting ended and I took my headset off she reminded me with a single bark.
Rory understands when I have the headset on and am talking with people she can’t see that I don’t want to be disturbed! GSDs sure are smart.
I let her out and she took a long drink – kibble makes dogs thirsty. Then I let her outside and she bounced around with Chach and Polina.

Judi’s Onyx A is serious about play! [4/24]

Judi’s Onyx A tears up the turf at Fastcat! [4/24]

Sometime there’s a little dirt in dog games. Onyx A. [4/24]

Ashleigh’s Callie F did just fine at her first restaurant! [4/24]

Dogs aren’t people, and life is easier if everyone remembers that! G. K. Chesterton’s family-friendly murder mystery series, Father Brown, makes that point superbly in “The Oracle of the Dog” (link), toward the end mostly. Then it wraps up with a Chestertonian Christian Apologetics tour de force.

Rory and Polina out at Jennie’s. [4/24]

A block of stamps featuring “Patron”, the famous Ukranian bomb-sniffing Jack Russel. He works both in the field and in the classroom, educating children to avoid explosives. These stamps were on a package we received recently from the woman who bred Paddy.
Politics aside, the center stamp appears to show booby-trapped toys (Russian stacking dolls) near a playground. In the Russian/Afghan war (1980s), the Russians dropped brightly colored booby-trapped toys on evacuation routes of fleeing Afghans, all too frequently with the desired effect.
The greatness of dogs shines through, especially against the dark backdrop of human nature. [4/24]

Rip, gazing out the window. [2/24]

My baby Leo turned a year old yesterday Where has the time gone!? It’s been a blessing watching this handsome boy grow! He is the best side kick anyone could ever ask for! Thank you again Judy Flatt O'Day for the most amazing pup! I love him with all my heart!

"The most beautiful long hair shepherds! I absolutely adore my dog, he is perfect. I could not have done this without these amazing breeders. They were so easy to communicate with, check in often to make sure everything is going okay, and raise stunning shepherds themselves. The puppies are well taken care of before you pick them up and mine was basically potty trained when I got him. Could not recommend them enough! Such an awesome experience!"
